MAC "to the beach" haul

As promised! this is my lovely "to the beach" by mac summer collection haul! i made the video, but for some reason the audio was lost. next best thing i guess will be this post. its not as good as a video but bare with me because my web cam isn't the best quality anyways!! so anyways, i got up bright and early for this collection because i didn't want to run the risk of anything that i wanted selling out lol. i pretty much did like 80mph to the mall, and umm didn't let anyone cross the damn st; i was in that much of a hurry lol. when i got there and looked at everything i was like....what?! things looked so different in person; womp womp! some things looked better, some things didn't look like they would look good on me. i literally tried EVERYTHING on because i was gonna buy things without making sure they looked good on me first. i had a list of everything i wanted to get; but that flew out the window the minute i noticed the peach lipstick had gold in it; and the peach lip gloss had blue sparkles. me and blue sparkles don't mix lol; and neither do me and gold lipsticks, i pretty much looked like a crackhead with it. womp womp because it looked gorgeous in pictures online. any who; i threw the list away into my purse and tried everything on one by one.

these; are the lovely things i ended up getting. i thought i was only going to get the beach collection stuff since i wanted everythinggggg from it; but since i ended up not liking everything; i strayed into some of the non limited stuff. i kept in mind that i was doing someones makeup the next day and decided to get some shadows for that; and a fix plus spray which ive wanted for the longest!! from the beach collection i ended up getting; a bronzer, a blush, two eye pencils, two lip glosses, one lip stick, two shadows, and one of the nail polishes. i was shaky about the polish because it was 12.50(i think, or just 12); but either way that's on the expensive side. i ended up getting it because i wanted no regrets when i got home. lol

i only got two of the 5 shadows becauseeeeeeee the other 2 i would of wanted(Shimmermoss and Humid) arent limited edition, so i could wait on those. i AM going to go back and get them in either the summer packaging or the regular packaging. i got "fire cracker" and "sweet and punchy". the last one, sand and sun didnt even show up on my skin, so i didnt even bother with it. Fire Cracker is a red coral color, and "sweet and punchy" is a bright yellow green. both are super pigmented and GORGEOUS! highly recommend those two for the summer. really fun colors.

nextttttttttttttttttttttt i moved on to lipsticks. i had planned to get the peach and the pink lipstick; but EGH ME NO LIKEY DA PEACH LIPSTICK! i was so dissapointed because i already had this whole bronzed goddess with peach lips look in my head, but womp womp, i had to let that go. i got the pink lipstick instead called "lazy day".

its a gorgeous blue pink!!! i have another blue pink lipstick but sometimes it gets a little too light and i end up having to put gloss over it; BUT this one is perfecttttt. i had a total barbie moment when i put it on lol and i knew at that exact moment that me and "lazy day" were made for one another lol. oh and umm how cute is the tube?

i planned to get all 3 lipglosses because they looked fierce in pictures; but the peach one had blue sparkles in it and it did NOTHING for me at all; so i got these two; "Easy Lounger" which is a light baby pink with silver tint sparkles, sheer by the way. and i also got "Splashing" which is blue pink; but not as sheer as the other one, more of a lipglass(yes, lipglass, as in high pigmented lipglosses from mac). i thought twice about "splashing" because i already had the blue pink lipstick; but it was so pretty that i couldnt pass up. you can NEVER have too many lipglosses lol thats my policy!

i HAD decided against getting the nail polishes because 12 was wayyyyy too much for nail polish. the most i do it 8 for OPI's and thats because they are damn good, and even though mac ones are too; i just didnt want to dish out so much for these. once i got there all that changed; i HAD to have this color. its more of an avocado green in person, it is just gorgeous and i've never seen another color like it. i pictured it on me and i decided i couldnt leave with out this "in the buff" nail polish, no matter what the price!

even though i didnt want to get any more bronzers; i decided to get one because the color was so nice, and the packaging lol. im a sucker, yes!. im actually very glad i got this though, i tried it on at the store and fell in love with it. it looks very natural, and so summery! i got the darker one of the two because its summer, i tan, and the other one wouldnt show up as good as this one. if your darker skined i suggest passing up on these; because they are very light, and the darker of the two just made it in with me.

i saw pictures of the "float on by" eye pencil and fell in love with it right away, it made my list the second i saw it online. the other color i wasnt too wow about(Rosemary and thyme); but when i saw it in person and tried it on my skin it looked amazing. i decided not to skip on it even though it was 14.50 because i knew i wasnt gonna find another color like it, and if i did, it wouldnt be the same. i rather not run into the risk of going out and looking and having this pencil sell out, so i grabbbbbbbed it! they are both so gorgeous! float on by is a really pretty aqua blue color, and rosemary and thyme is a rich olive gold color. the eye pencil decorations are adorable as well lol.

its very similar to the decoration on the bronzer. im a sucker for this line in general, i really debated being a good girl and not blowing crazy money, BUT its summer and you only live once lol, so i went for it. im not crazy about every single line that comes out, but theres something about this summer one that i just loved.

here is a shot of the two eyeshadows outside of the packaging. gorgeous right?
(fire cracker on the left; and sweet and punchy on the right)

moving on from the beach line(because everything that i didnt get isnt worth talking about lol) i got my fix plus FINALLY!!! i actually used it on my prom look, and im going to ask ivanna how her makeup lasted throughout the night. this stuff is so multi use its crazy, i love it already! this is a MUST MUST MUST specially in this hot summer weather. if you guys dont know what this is, or what its for, im going to do a post on it very soon! i actually had fix plus used on me when i went to mac to do my makeup for prom and let me tell you guys i went to sleep with my makeup on(i know, very bad!), and the next day when i woke up it looked like i JUST had it done. i was so amazed; i think thats when my love for mac really really began lol.

i got the blushie!! im a sucker for baby pink blushes; and umm blushes in general lol. this one is called "hipness"; and its....hipness lol. i love it. goes on so pretty! and doesnt give you that blobby overly pink cheeks look. its a little darker than pictured btw. im telling you, i was amazed at how different things looked in person. so, i dont suggest online shopping unless your a comformist and are sattisfied with what ever you get.

since i thought i was going to get wayyyy more stuff from the summer line; i decided to get 3 new shadows for the makeup prom look i was going to be doing. i forget the names of these by heart; i know the silver one is "silver ring" because i had been eyeing it for a while; the other two, if you really want to know just leave a comment and ask; or i'll include the names in a later blog. all 3 colors are gorgeous and so multi use.

At the end of my shopping, i was extremly satisfied! i loved every single thing i got, and even though it was good money, its money well spent because i truly enjoy working with makeup, and i feel like its never money badly spent when it comes to something for myself. i truly deserve everything i get myself, specially after these past rough months! so for sure i was happy! a little let down that i didnt get my peach lipsticks but pink was the next best thing lol. DID YOU GUYS GET ANY MAC TO THE BEACH?!!!

MAC TO THE BEACH

TODAY is the release date of the mac to the beach collection!! let me just say i threw down some good money because i LOVE this collection. i also got some shadows for a prom look im going to be doing tomorrow. anyways back to the beach collation, it has lots of good stuff. its better to shop in person because some things look better online, and some look better in person. im gonna be doing a detailed post, but this is just a little teaser haha

ULTA pt 2

oh! i forgot to mention!! i bought a mirror the first trip i made; and when i got home it was BROKEN!! arrrrrggg!! so i went back the next day and exchanged the mirror. i also grabbed another nail polish lol; its OPIs "funkey dunkey" from the shrek collection. its darker in person, but its adorable x3 (i have it on my toes now! .....and now my mirror! im actually glad the other one was broken because this one lights up!

its great! and doing my makeup is now much easier!

ULTA haul

SO, as i mentioned, i went to the ULTA store in Everette. I initially went because i wanted to try the NYX shadows and cosmetic line. When i got there i ran over to the nyx isle and egh...wasnt THAT blown away. Most of the nyx colors were very similar to mac colors i already had, so i tried to go for colors i needed. The one thing i did like was that they had every single brand nail polish; from essie, to china glaze, to opi, to revlon, and everything in between.

i LOVE these. the camera doesnt do them any justice because they are even better in person. the first color (pictured far left) is flip flop fantasy. its a bright pink/coral/orangie color, even though it looks pink in the picture. the middle one is shocking pink; and just like the name, it is a bright pink summer color. the last one, and my favorite is peachy keen. it is a really pretty pastel peach color. i loooooved all the colors they had, BUT i tried to limit myself to just 3...for now anyways.
next i went for some nyx shadows. i ended up only liking 3; which at the end worked in my favor because they were buy 2 get one. most of the colors they had were browns, and neutrals that i already had plenty of. the first color is "Atlantic"; in the picture it looks pretty bright, but in person it is a very dark blue.

this color is "Kiwi"; its a dark kiwi green, again it looks bright in the picture, but its a couple shades darker. its a gorgeous green by the way.

the last color is "lime green"; its a gorgeous green with a gold shimmer to it. i went a little green crazy because i didnt have alot of green eyeshadows besides the neon greenish one from mac. all in all im happy with everything. the nail polishes are adorable and summery; the eyeshadows are really pigmented gorgeous. im gonna be doing a review on the nyx shadows soon because they are truly good for their price. these ran me for about 5.99 a piece, and im not sure but i swear i saw them cheaper on the website. idk im gonna double check that. the people that worked at ulta were kinda snobish; that would be my only complaint; other than that it was a pretty big store and it had awesome stuff in it. its worth the checkitout!

On my way home i stopped at target to get something for my mom; and i grabbed these two crease brushes for 5.99 a piece; i got two of them because im a brush junkie and i rather have too many than not enough!

OMG!!

so yes, the video is made i just gotta upload and all that good stuff!! (ulta haul). i didn't update because i've been out shopping like a maniac!! i got some sample stuff from the body shop that im gonna rave about because i LOVED alot of it!! GUYS! TODAY IS THE RELEASE OF THE "MAC TO THE BEACH" SUMMER COLLECTION!! IF YOU HAVEN'T GONE TO GET YOUR PRODUCTS, DO SO ASAP BECAUSE THIS STUFF IS GONNA SELL LIKE HOTCAKES!! i spent 230 freaking dollars; BUT ITS ALL SO WORTH IT!! lots of gorgeous stuff!! i didn't stick to getting everything i thought i was gonna get because the stuff looks different in person. some looked better; others not so much!! im gonna take pictures of everything/ or make a video haul; EITHER WAY STAY TUNED! im super excited about this haul; i LOVE IT!! the only reason why i might do a post instead is because YouTube has that stupid 10 minute max rule; and this haul is gonna be way longer than 10 minutes!! lol

REX IN PINK art

THINGS I MUST HAVE ASAP!!

so, i always make these little lists' of things that i want to try/buy, BUT i always lose them. lol. so instead im gonna do posts' of things i wanna try. if you guys have tried any of these products or know anything that works even better; make sure to leave a comment!!

-Coastal makeup palettes (all of them lol) (ok, maybe not all, but most)
-Brown/nude lipsticks
-Bright pink lip stick
-Revlon lipstick in "soft nude", 613, almost nude, 453, and silver city pink
-Maybelline lipstick in "fairest nude"
-Clear gloss
-Revlon superlucious lip gloss
-Lip tinted balms
-Revlon color burst lipsticks in soft nude/peach
-a new stippling brush
-LUSH lip scrubs
-Soap and glory body scrubs

BIC Soleil razors

I know there are tons of razors out there, some better than others. i've tried my share of them. i have sensative skin so i can usually tell from one shave if im gonna like them or not. there are very FEW razors that i actually liked enough to re-buy. one is the venus ones, they are great! a little on the expensive side but egh, at the end of the day YOU are worth the money. i dont really like using them on my bikini area, or armpits because the head is so big that i feel its hard to manuver. i mostly stick to legs with venus. Even though venus is great, i love BIC soleils. i have been using them for a couple years and ever since the first try i have stuck with them. they leave my skin super uberrrrr smooth, i get like one cut a year, and they are good for my sensative skin. not to mention they are re-useable and dont cost a fortune. for sure a must try!

Vaseline heathy hand and nail

i bumped into this while getting body lotion and decided to try it since i la-la-love having nice smooth hands. egh. that's all i have to say. i cant really remember if it made my hands smooth or not, and that's not a good thing. i used it for a couple of days and then had to stop because the smell was making me sick to my stomach. when you smell it and put it on, its fine, but after like a minute or two it has this weird smell that was truly making me SICK. maybe its just me. have you guys tried this product? if so, leave a comment if this happened to you also.

Makeup shots

...some shots from bebas prom makeup! she trusted me enough to do her makeup for her junior prom lol. the bigger shots look better because you can see the makeup in full detail. i used them Jessie's girl eye shadows that I'm gonna do a post/review on asap because they were pretty damn good. she looked great; and i felt like a proud mom when i was done lol; yes i know; I'm lame lol

Curly hair for the summer MUST!

since i hate, hate, HATE attempting to have straight hair in the summer (i say attempt because lets be honest its freaking hot; hair gets frizzy; nasty; and ugly); my solution is to just wet it and leave it be. only problem is that most of the stuff I've tried leaves my hair super greasy, dries it out, drenches it in that white stuff gel leaves behind, or gives me no volume! whats hair without volume? no thanks! specially curls! so I'm always on the look out for stuff that gives me volume; and frizz control without taking away from my curls like some of these gels do. i found this lovely 3 products that i think you guys will love. first one is Garnier Fructis wonder waves. this works great! hmm the smell takes some getting use to because its a really strong lemon kind of smell that some people might not really like, but overall my curls looked great. i might wear my hair curly everyday till September lol. the second one is the curl construct mousse. this was the last one in my scale of likeness out of the 3; just because it left my hair a little crunchy which is what i was trying to avoid; but the less you use; the less crunchy your hair ends up. the smell; again was a little overwhelming; but other than that its a pretty good mousse. i used both together just so that i wouldn't have to use so much mousse. the last and my FAVORITE is the tresemme flawless curl; curl hydration. love, love, LOVE this. smells amazing, leaves my hair soft, not greasy, AMAZING in other words. best thing about it; it was like 3.99; which is great because i have ALOT of freaking hair; and I'm gonna be using this stuff alot this summer. overall; i highly recommend the tresemme flawless curl! the wonder waves spray is my runner up; and the mousse; hmmm i hate to love i guess; because of the crunchy texture that it leaves; but i will re buy all 3!

Tampax Pearl

Even though I'm sure most of you have already tried these, I'm gonna post this anyways because i still know a couple of people that are freaked out my tampons(as funny as that sounds lol). honestly i HATE pads. i refuse to pretty much wear them unless I'm a. sleeping b. home c. forced to! hate them! no one wants to feel like their wearing a diaper. thank god its 2010; and we don't have to do that anymore. I've only tried Tampax pearl; and honestly don't fix whats not broken is my motto when it comes to them. i LOVE them; and feel like i don't wanna waste my time trying other brands.
i wear the regular ones; since Ive never had a period bad enough to wear heavy ones.

and lites on my light days because even on those i refuse to wear pads! lol JUST REFUSE! trust me so worth it! ever since the day i first tried one, Ive never looked back. best thing ever invented: TAMPONS!

CHI flat iron

i upgraded my flat iron; FINALLY! I've been meaning to do it for months since my old one was about a year and some change old. since i used my old one TONS; i felt like i needed a new one. my pink one was pretty good; i forget the damn brand name; but i payed 100 and something for it. this time instead of getting the same brand; which I've had two of because they are very good; i decided to get a chi instead. i made my way to trade secret since i happened to be in that mall; and go this one(picture above). It was 150.00 but since it was the last one of this design; i got it for 80; that's a great buy if you ask me! and i dont even have to say how great CHI is; other than the fact that you can control the heat amount (womp womp); but its so good that i can forgive them for that.

CHI

If you guys learn anything from reading my blog, please let it be this! IRON GUARD! and yes in capital letters because its THAT important. for you girls that flat iron your hair every single day, i hope to god you guys use this because if ya don't; then....wow. Heat tamer sprays should be your number one thing; flat irons KILL your ends; and damage your hair so much that it keeps it from growing. I've been there, done that! my hair had months that it didn't grow an inch because i was just sucking the life right out of it, or should i say flat ironing the life out of it. besides trying not to use the iron everyday; I've been using the iron guard; and its helped TONS! flat irons regardless shouldn't be for every single day use; but even if its just once a week; spray a little of this on; or any heat tamer spray of your choice; but definitely don't skip this step girls!

Bodycology

ANOTHER MUST TRY! a cheaper alternative; well i shouldn't say cheaper because that makes it sound like they don't work as good; but just a regular old alternative to those expensive body sprays. bodycology sprays smell great; price is great; and did i mention they smell yummy? specially in coconut lime; and cherry blossom. i know what your thinking "geesh you weren't kidding with the cherry blossom thing?" lol, nope! smells fantastic! i get tons of compliments, so heres my secret; BODYCOLOGY along with my perfume. i love mixing scents.

Bath and Body

OK, guys seriously, i know Vickie's has great scented lotions and what not; BUT they are a tad bit greasy for me. i have super sensitive skin and anything too greasy gives me rashes. however, i LOVE the lotions from bath and body. not only do they smell AMAZING, but they don't leave your skin drenched in oil! i tried their vanilla sugar lotion; and ever since then i am IN LOVE with their lotions + sprays. i went in to get some vanilla sugar since i was running out, but instead decided to try new ones since they had some special going on, i think it was 3 for 15; or something cool like that. so i got these three. white citrus; which smells like green apples; lime; and hmm something else that i cant put my finger on; but delishhh. the middle one is sweet pea; which is more of a flower scent. and last but not least; Japanese cherry blossom; i love this scent on pretty much anything lol so it had to come with! you guys MUST, MUST try these! most of the time they have the same specials that Vickie's has; 3 for 15, 5 for 25 etc, so it wont hurt your pocket too much, but for sure a must buy!

rex is back for good this time!

HEY GUYS!! so I'm kinda sorta back; YAY ME! lol. new look, TONS of stuff to post. today was my official last day of school, and i bet you guys can tell I'm PUMPED haha. this means one thing and one thing only, i can devote time to my lovely blog. WOW!

what can i say? i surely didnt stay true to my word!! i LOVE my blog; and i love writting about all my makeup goodies; but its been a rough couple months. between school and some minor health problems i've been all over the place. just when i thought i was getting it together; more problems came; not so much problems but things that needed my attention more than this blog. i PROMISE a million and one posts soon; im in my last week of school, so soon i'll have all the time in the world for this blog. ALSO; im gonna go hard on this portfolio thing because its long over due. i have alot of projects concerning makeup and i will put them into work SOON! anyways; stay TUNED, i promise good stuff is on the way!
